  • Can you help me figure out how much product I need?

If you are unsure about how much limestone, river rock gravel, mulch, mushroom manure, topsoil or sand you will need, you can use our online material calculator to come up with an estimate. You can also give us a call to let us know a bit about your project and we will do our best to help you calculate what you need.

  • How much can a pickup truck hold?

A small pickup truck (i.e. Ranger, S-10) can hold 1 cubic yard of mulch, a half-ton of topsoil, or a half-ton of sand or gravel. A full size pickup truck (1 ton pickup) with a full size bed can hold 2-3 cubic yards of mulch, 1-2 tons of topsoil, and 1-2 tons of sand or gravel. It is your responsibility to know your vehicle and what its weight limit is. We will not load a vehicle beyond its assumed weight limit. We reserve the right to refuse to load vehicles or trailers we deem unable to safely transport the material.

  • Can I get bulk material loaded into my van or SUV?

No. Bulk material can only be loaded into open-bed vehicles or trailers.

  • Can I shovel it in myself?

Yes, with the exception of house coal, which can be purchased pre-bagged, and random river rock. You are more than welcome to get any amount you need. A shovel is always available outside the office entrance for your use. If you need a container, we offer fill it yourself bags in our office.

  • What kind of mulch is the best?

The short answer is: whichever one you like. Every person has different taste in mulch, take a look and choose which one you like best.

  • How deep should my mulch be?

Russ recommends three inches. You want the mulch to cover, but not be too deep to breed mold.
